经济在发展，文化在发展，世界在发展。而设计领域中设计与产品的关系不再是以往传统意义上讲的单一对应的关系状态，而是呈现出一种多元化的发展趋势，形成了跨文化、跨地域、跨专业等不同领域间的跨越与融合的状态。来自瑞士的著名设计师Emilie Bonnaro研究的课题–气味与工业设计，给我们带来了一种新的视角来审视当今的工业产品设计。
Emilie Bonnaro从创意与产品的联系、创意的作用价值、创意对公司的意义以及创意对产品的影响等方面，深入阐述了设计与产品的关系。
（一）技术领域的新研究
技术领域的新研究最主要体现在新材料的研究，而研究新材料所产生的新问题又引领着人与人之间的交流和技术与技术之间的交流。以Philippe Starck所设计的椅子为例，设计者为了追求一种有透明感、轻便、现代的产品，因而选用了塑料为材料来生产它。而对于塑料的研究又带动起与之相关的其他领域的人与人、技术与技术的交流合作。
（二）市场点：如何吸引顾客
香水是一种感性兼理性的产品，香水设计师不仅是设计师、艺术家或是化学工程师。它是由抽象到具象的一个过程，设计者把想要表达的思想、氛围、情感、内容通过化学师的创造制成产品。而消费者通过嗅到它的气味而产生一系列的联想和情感作为购买产品的依据，这样就把一种抽象、感性的东西转化为一种商业产品。
而一个公司又如何卖出自己的香水语言呢？首先考虑到它与市场的联系，要适用于不同需求的消费人群，而且要从多方面、多功能改变销售理念，针对不同种类的消费人群来表达它的文字、场景与图片。
（三）用小元素作用于大的创意产业
以CK香水为例，它与市场交流的对象是年轻女性，它表达了既有女性的感觉又不太女人，既温柔又不乏精力旺盛、一种自然体香而又能体现性感的元素。它在生活中无拘无束，通过香味表达出它的品牌理念。
产品与消费者的交流通过不同形式加以表达，如视觉、嗅觉、触觉、味觉、听觉等。产品设计师就是通过产品来表达的导演。而产品设计师与工程师的交流与配合，使得产品本身高于产品的设计价值和产品的工程价值，这使双方成为互动的力量。创意对于工业设计来说，创意产品不仅仅增加了不同人的本领，更增加了不同领域的人合作的契机，最后达到各方面交流与合作的共赢。
